Our Team

Our team of instructors and general duty pilots is what our business is built on. We actively look for ways to provide continuing up-skilling and training opportunities across their flying skill set and customer service capability. Our front line team includes a diverse mix of experience and background, and we would like to briefly introduce a few of them to you here.

Andrew Hill

Andrew is someone who looks to find new challenges to increase his experience, knowledge and skill as a pilot and as a flight instructor. He is a part of a group of pilots who can claim they flew first solo before they were old enough to hold a drivers licence. After leaving school with a GFPT Andrew began his Bachelor of Aviation at Griffith University and has only the ATPL subjects to complete to graduate. During those three years, he completed his Commercial Licence and a Flight Instructor Rating while working as a fast-food manager and later as a postie for Australia Post.

Now surrounded and supported by very experienced instructors he is able to focus on making his students the best they can be.

David St. John

David St. John brings a wealth of experience to Flight One, in support of its Client Service Charter and approach to client care and friendly professionalism.

With 27 years' flying experience on most versions of nearly 40 aircraft types, David has amassed some 10 000 flying hours in a large variety of general aviation roles including charter, corporate aviation, flight training, freight, scheduled services, search and rescue, low level and remote area operations, Pacific Ocean island operations and air tours.

David has maintained a close relationship with the Civil Aviation Safety Authority as a result of 7 Chief Pilot approvals and 3 Chief Flying Instructor approvals over his career. David has also previously held flight testing approvals up to Commercial Licence level, and is well equipped to ensure his students achieve the highest standards.

Michael Lawrence

Michael’s background in terms of aviation experience is as broad as the geographic spread of his postings. During his military service, a passion for all things aviation was fostered. Stepping into a variety of aircraft after this sojourn, Michael has amassed thousands of hours fine tuning skills that have seen his career span the continent from Tasmania to Queensland – with not much that has not been seen in between. In previously holding a Chief Pilot endorsement from CASA, Michael has demonstrated a working understanding of what it takes to achieve in the General Aviation arena and his continuing interest in all things RAA & GA equip him to offer support and guidance to those seeking to stretch their wings.

Jason Samuel

Jason joined the growing team at Flight One this year, and brings with him an extensive training background. He has been involved in instructing for a number of years, and as a Grade One Instructor has a wealth of experience in conducting advanced student training. Jason is well qualified to deliver instruction and professional charter services at a level that will appeal to a broad range of students and clients alike.

Jordan Frazer

Jordan is one of Flight One's accomplished team members, with a practical and experienced approach to customer service and mission planning. Jordan was a former instructor, but now works as a charter specialist. Jordan is well placed to answer any questions about reaching destinations in our region, and will more than likely be able to assist with logistics on the ground once you are there.
